East Brunswick, New Jersey (PRWEB) February 05, 2012

Dr. Robert A. Herbstman of Contemporary Plastic Surgery has noticed an increase in the number of post-weight-loss patients coming to his New Jersey plastic surgery practice for cosmetic procedures.

He attributes this to the growing popularity of bariatric surgery, which is helping people lose large amounts of weight but can leave them with sagging skin and excess tissue in some areas.

Bariatric surgery rates have doubled in six years, according to the American Society for Metabolic Bariatric Surgery. The group reports that 220,000 procedures were performed in 2008, the most recent year for which statistics are available.

“The number of bariatric procedures performed every year in the U.S. is greatly increasing thanks to advances in procedural techniques,” Dr. Herbstman says. “Patients are turning to surgeons for the results they need and desire.”

Because of the increased number of bariatric patients, more people are also seeking post-weight-loss cosmetic procedures to address residual concerns.

“Excess skin and remaining fat pockets can be difficult and even impossible to remove through only diet and exercise,” Dr. Herbstman says. “I offer a range of procedures to help patients contour their bodies so they can more fully enjoy the results of their bariatric procedures.”

Dr. Herbstman performs a full spectrum of procedures for post-weight-loss patients, including liposuction, tummy tucks, body lifts and breast augmentation in New Jersey.

“While breast augmentation may not be the first procedure people think of when post-weight-loss surgery is mentioned, I have achieved great success in restoring volume to patients’ breasts,” Dr. Herbstman says. “A breast lift is also a popular option with women who wish to restore a more youthful appearance. Everyone’s body reacts differently to weight loss, so procedures such as breast augmentation and breast lifts can be customized to match a patient’s specific needs.”

Dr. Herbstman says procedures such as liposuction help New Jersey patients take the final step in the body-contouring process.

“Although bariatric procedures are excellent for helping people achieve their weight-loss goals, many patients find that they are still not satisfied with their bodies,” he says. “Post-weight-loss procedures contour the body according to a patient’s exact needs.

“People deserve to feel comfortable in their skin, and I’m looking forward to assisting more patients as they discover the advances in procedural techniques at our practice.”

Dr. Robert Herbstman (http://www.cosmeticsurgerynj.com) is a dedicated and trusted board-certified plastic surgeon in New Jersey with more than 20 years of experience. He is an active member of several elite professional organizations, such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the New Jersey Society of Plastic Surgeons. At his plastic surgery practice, Contemporary Plastic Surgery, he provides innovative techniques for popular procedures such as breast augmentation, liposuction, abdominoplasty and facelifts. At his Skin Rejuvenation and Laser Center, he offers a variety of medical spa services, including BOTOX® Cosmetic, dermal fillers and laser skin resurfacing.

America’s newest sweetheart is a chain-smoking Staten Island diva with a passion for plastic surgery.

She’s Angela “Big Ang” Raiola, the latest cast member on the VH1 reality show “Mob Wives.”

Raiola debuted on the Jan. 1 second-season premiere when she tried — unsuccessfully — to get feuding “Mob Wives” co-stars Karen Gravano and Drita D’Avanzo to settle their differences. The result may have been a massive, punch-throwing fight that disrupted a lavish party for cast mate Renee Graziano, but it also put Raiola on the fast track to fame.

One fan even got a tattoo of Raiola’s face — with her trademark collagen-enhanced lips — and the image went viral.

“I’m very overwhelmed at how big I became,” Raiola told the Herald. “It’s been crazy, out of control. Everywhere I am, people are stopping me. Or they’re sending fan mail to my bar.”

That’s the Drunken Monkey, for those un-familiar with Staten Island hot spots. “I never thought this would happen,” added Raiola, 52, niece of late mob captain Salvatore “Sally Dogs” Lombardi. “But it’s fun. It’s very ex-citing.”

“Big Ang is like the godmother of all of us. She has all the wisdom,” D’Avanzo said in a recent episode.

Raiola explained that the nickname, “Big Ang,” came from growing up in Brooklyn as one of two girls named Ang in the neighborhood.

“My girlfriend, she was very tiny and I was tall, so I became ‘Big Ang’ and she’s ‘Little Ang,’?” she said.

Raiola said she’s friends with all the cast members, but feels closest to Graziano, saying: “I like every-thing about Renee. I’ve known her since she was a teenager. She’s a good person and has a big heart. She’s very sensitive. I real-ly like her.”

Raspy-voiced Raiola admits to a tummy tuck, liposuction, three breast implant surgeries and wanting a face-lift — and confesses an affinity for dating “wiseguys,” who she says have bought her million-dollar homes and Jaguars in the past.

“Big Ang” is still taking in her newfound fame and has not accepted commercial endorsements — yet — even as VH1 announces a spinoff, “Mob Wives: Chicago,” to debut with a different cast by the end of the year.

“I’m going to take it day to day,” said Raiola. “I’ll see what comes and go with it.”

Omaha, Nebraska (PRWEB) February 05, 2012

For patients who want to get rid of fat without surgical incisions or downtime, Aesthetic Surgical Images has added CoolSculpting, an alternative to liposuction in Omaha, NE. Dr. John J. Heieck, a board-certified plastic surgeon at the practice, says CoolSculpting will help his patients avoid the recovery time associated with some surgical procedures.

“CoolSculpting is a great way for people to easily remove small, stubborn pockets of fat,” Dr. Heieck says. “No anesthesia or incisions are required, so patients can get back to their daily activities immediately.”

CoolSculpting uses a controlled cooling process that eliminates fat cells without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue. Dr. John J. Edney of Aesthetic Surgical Images, says the procedure is easy, gentle and typically with no side effects.

“CoolSculpting is FDA-cleared to eliminate stubborn fat pockets in many different areas,” Dr. Edney says.

Dr. Marie E. Montag of Aesthetic Surgical Images explains that she can customize this procedure to fit each patient’s specific needs.

“Just as I would sit down with a breast augmentation patient to discuss options for breast implants in Omaha, I help CoolSculpting patients determine which areas of their bodies they would most like to contour,” she says.

Another one of Aesthetic Surgical Images’ board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Richard J. Bruneteau, says the key to achieving natural looking results is to choose the right procedure for each individual patient.

Aesthetic Surgical Images in Omaha offers a range of options for fat reduction, but it’s important to choose the most effective method for achieving a specific look,” Dr. Bruneteau says. “CoolSculpting shouldn’t be used for major weight loss, but it can help patients with small pockets of excess fat that is resistant to diet and exercise.”

The introduction of CoolSculpting at Aesthetic Surgical Images is an example of the practice’s continued efforts to offer patients the most advanced and effective procedures available.

Aesthetic Surgical Images (http://www.surgicalimages.com) has a highly trained team headed by 4 board-certified plastic surgeons. Each surgeon has a personalized approach to cosmetic surgery, and they use their combined skills to provide patients with optimal results. The practice offers a full range of surgical and nonsurgical cosmetic procedures, and each treatment is customized to match the patient’s individual needs. Dedicated to providing the safest services available, each of the surgeons is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). A high standard of patient care combined with attention to detail helps the team at Aesthetic Surgical Images create beautiful, natural looking results.

• The 44-year-old woman died of multiple organ failure at the Carlos Haya hospital in Malaga

A MALAGA surgeon has been sentenced to two and half years in prison after a mother of two died following a liposuction operation.

Encarnacion Salazar, 44, died of multiple organ failure after the surgeon perforated her intestine during the cosmetic procedure.

The woman, who moved to Malaga from Ceuta in 2007 to have a breast reduction and liposuction around her stomach, should have recovered within a couple of days but died five months later in the Carlos Haya Hospital.

The family has always maintained her death was the result of medical malpractice.

Now the prosecutor has ruled in their favour, arguing the surgeon carried out the procedure ‘without a prior ultrasound’ to establish the thickness of the abdominal wall and the presence of an abdominal weakness common after pregnancy.

In addition to his prison sentence the surgeon must now pay the family 240,000 euros in compensation.

Meanwhile the family is still calling for two other doctors who treated Salazar after her operation to be charged as well.

New Mob Wives star Angela “Big Ang” Raiola exclusively tells RadarOnline.com that she’s obsessed with plastic surgery.

“I had a tummy tuck, liposuction, my lips injected and my breasts done three times,” Big Ang said. “The first time I had my breasts done was 27 years ago, and they put sponges in them. That was in 1985.”

EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: Mob Wives ‘Big Ang’ Through The Years

Big Ang is the niece of Salvatore “Sally Dogs” Lombardi, a deceased captain of the Genovese crime family, tells RadarOnline.com that she loves to change her look and she’s already had more than six plastic surgeries — and still wants more.

The 52-year-old attributes her obsession with plastic surgery to insecurities about her body after her first child was born.

“My boobs were so big after I gave birth, I was a 42 triple J so I had to do something,” Ang explained. “After I had the baby my boobs were dead. They just were prunes down to my waist. After my first surgery, I had them redone in 1995. They took the sponges out and put in saline implants. I had a double 36 double D when I was only 14-years-old, so I have always had a big chest.”

PHOTOS: Plastic Surgery Disasters

Ten years later, she went back under the knife for another breast implant.

“I did it again in 2005, and replaced the saline with saline and silicone implants,” she said. “I’m good now, I have a 36 J and that is perfect. I think that when men look at me, they notice my height and my boobs. I am married to a 38-year-old and I am 52 and he is 6-foot-7.”

While Ang is pleased with her chest size, she’s had other cosmetic surgeries for body parts such as her lips.

PHOTOS: Plastic Surgery Bikini Bodies

“I had my lips done eleven years ago,” Big Ang said. “They put some sort of plastic collagen stuff [in]. I’m hot and I think I am sexy and men like my look, they just love me.”

But it’s never enough for Big Ang!

“I would like to have other surgery, like my eyes done and a slight face lift and my love handles removed by liposuction,” she said. “I just need to get this liposuction fast around my bra and my backsides, and I’ll feel much better after that cause my age is kicking in.”

And what better place to find a plastic surgeon than … Facebook?

“My sister found the surgeon on Facebook. She is like my manager and does everything for me,” Ang said. “I’m going in for a consultation for more plastic surgery in February and I hope to have it done in April. I’ve also had extensions for 25 years in every style and every color.

“I really like changing my look.”

Learn more about the upcoming trends in plastic surgery for 2012 from leading New Jersey cosmetic surgeon Dr. David Evdokimow

  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dr. David Evdokimow is a leading New Jersey plastic surgeon who is attuned to the trends and latest advances in cosmetic medicine. He predicts an exciting year ahead for plastic surgery patients, pointing out that they now have more treatment choices than ever.

First, Dr. Evdokimow predicts minimally invasive procedures will continue to see widespread demand. People leading busy lives cannot afford to take several weeks to recover from tummy tuck surgery or full facelift before returning to work or their normal routines. And now they don’t have to, thanks to non-surgical body sculpting and facial rejuvenation treatments.

Ulthera, a skin lifting and tightening treatment, is oft-requested at Dr. Evdokimow’s office for facial rejuvenation. With no incisions, no general anesthesia, minor downtime, and incredible results, Ulthera — and fat removal treatments like Zerona, Zeltiq and Ultrashape — will continue to attract a loyal following, according to the surgeon.

New types of botulinum toxins will also see a busy year. Dysport has already shown itself to be a worthy alternative to the ever-popular Botox, and new products like PurTox are facing potential FDA safety clearance this year. Also similar to Botox in its wrinkle-fighting abilities is Revance, a topically applied cream that may also gain significant attention.

Data from the American Society of Plastic Surgery showed a 14 percent increase in facelifts for men in 2010, and Dr. Evdokimow believes this number will continue to rise. Men are staying in the workforce longer than they were previously, and when surrounded by up-and-coming executives, there is a desire to look younger and stay relevant. Plastic surgery can take years off of a man’s appearance and help him sustain confidence in the office and at the negotiating table. Other popular plastic surgery procedures such as liposuction and male breast reduction are extremely effective at helping men attain an enviable physique.

Plastic surgery is hot. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the number of people undergoing cosmetic procedures has more than doubled in the past ten years to over 14 million in 2010. Advances in technology are partially responsible for this trend, as looking better has never been easier or cheaper.

So what do I see in store for plastic surgery this year? Quite a bit. Here are my plastic surgery predictions for 2012.

5. Cosmetic filler injections will continue to get better and cheaper. There are two types of cosmetic injectables: neurotoxins and fillers. Neurotoxins, like Botox, weaken muscles that cause wrinkles, such as crow’s feet. Fillers, like Restylane, literally ‘fill-in’ deeper wrinkles of the face or plump the lips. Ten years ago, collagen was the only filler available. Unfortunately, it lasted only 2 to 4 months and was extremely expensive. Today’s fillers are cheaper, have greater longevity, and come in many different types. Juvederm Voluma is one of the new fillers poised to gain FDA approval in 2012. This treatment adds fullness to the face and can even enhance a weak chin.

4. More and more Botox competitors will hit the market, but real Botox will remain the juggernaut. Botox is the most popular plastic surgery procedure of all time, with over 5 million treatments performed last year. Up until a few months ago, Dysport™ was the only true Botox alternative available. Although a great product, it hasn’t caught on as much as some plastic surgeons expected. 2011 brought the FDA approval of Xeomin®, another Botox competitor, although its advantages to Botox remain under debate. The next big neurotoxin staged to hit the market, PureTox®, may be available in 2012.

3. The Ideal Implant will begin making waves. Our two current breast implant choices have their limitations. Silicone implants give the best results but are still considered controversial by many. Saline implants don’t look or feel as natural as silicone, but have a great safety profile. 2012 may bring us the best of both worlds. The Ideal Implant is a saline-filled breast implant specially designed with internal chambers to mimic the feel of a silicone implant. It’s currently in the FDA approval process and may get cleared this year, allowing patients the peace-of-mind of saline with the natural feel of silicone.

2. The number of people undergoing nonsurgical fat reduction will skyrocket. The Holy Grail of plastic surgery is removal of fat without needles, surgery, or pain. So far, there are two common treatments that claim to accomplish this. Zeltiq® and Zerona® have been met with a ton of enthusiasm, but overall mixed results. The newest nonsurgical liposuction machine, Liposonix®, recently received FDA clearance and is now being marketed to physicians. It utilizes external ultrasound to blast away fat cells. Ultrashape is a similar device that may achieve FDA approval in 2012, giving us yet another option in the battle against the bulge. Expect long lines at your plastic surgeon’s office if either of these devices lives up to the hype.

1. We’ll see more and more nightmare surgery stories from phony plastic surgeons. Cosmetic surgery is currently the “Wild West” of medicine, with doctors of all types of training (Ob-Gyn, ER, family practice, etc.) performing plastic surgery procedures for which they are poorly trained. A lack of regulation combined with the gradual decline in insurance reimbursement are pushing more and more doctors to close their medical practices, take courses in plastic surgery, and then reopen their offices as cosmetic surgery clinics. I expect we’ll hear more and more nightmare plastic surgery stories as these poorly trained doctors botch surgeries on unsuspecting patients.

Plastic surgeons at the Marietta Plastic Surgery clinic in America said that the operation ‘can be combined with procedures such as a body lift or tummy tuck following significant weight loss, but should not be seen as an alternative to a healthy diet and exercise’.

They added that, ‘some fat will not respond to diet and exercise, making liposuction a wonderful choice for people who are having trouble losing those last few pounds’, and insisted that those looking to have liposuction surgery should be in good health.

As well as the advice given on preparations for the procedure, the surgeons emphasised the importance of understanding the recovery time and process, as well as the importance of doing careful research into the surgeon and clinic.

(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20120201/LA46109)

Dr. Gellis graduated from Wayne State University medical school followed by training in general surgery. He completed his plastic surgery residency in 1976 at Beaumont Hospital. He has a lifetime certification with the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Gellis is an accomplished clinician and served as the Chairman of the Division of Plastic Surgery at Beaumont Hospital for 11 years where he managed the activities of 26 plastic surgeons and countless residents. Dr. Gellis has many areas of special interest including liposuction for which he has developed an FDA approved device.

Dr. Gellis will be involved in appointing new physician hires, proctoring current physicians and assisting with further development of the professional services for Sono Bello. He will work closely with major plastic and cosmetic medical societies on behalf of Sono Bello to share the organizations knowledge and experience. He will spearhead the Education and Standards committee, which is responsible for education and research to include presentations and publications. As such he will further develop standards of practice to which all physicians associated with Sono Bello adhere. The underlying goal is to provide the same level of excellence regardless of which Sono Bello facility or which surgeon is utilized.

Sono Bello has over 35 trained surgeons most of whom are recognized by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Gellis will take the helm of this superb group to provide additional leadership and oversight. With his supervision Sono Bello will continue to set the standards for minimally invasive laser liposuction. Dr. Gellis will promote patient safety, excellent surgical outcomes and adherence to the high practice standards expected by our patients.

Sono Bello has been performing awake laser assisted liposuction for over 3 years. During that time some 17,000 surgeries have been performed. Review of complications and other standard measures indicate that Sono Bello is meeting the high expectations demanded in plastic surgery. Sono Bello clinics are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) which is an independent not-for-profit organization accrediting outstanding medical practices. This is an optional process confirming that Sono Bello meets the highest recognized standards in patient safety and quality of care. Most authorities recommend plastic surgery be obtained only at an accredited facility.

Dr. Gellis is a welcome addition and further proof of the dedication Sono Bello has to their patients and the medical community. Significant growth is anticipated in 2012 and Dr. Gellis will ensure that this is done in a manner that promotes patient safety and continues Sono Bello’s tradition of excellence.

We are pleased to announce Dr. Michael Gellis as Chief Medical Officer of Sono Bello.
