What Is Lyposuction?

Lyposuction, or more commonly spelt liposuction, is the science and art of removal of accumulations of fat cells in selected parts of the human body in order to enhance beauty and regain lost youth.

A science, because it forms part of the science of medicine and surgery, in that there has to be a thorough and scientific knowledge of the body and its functions, in what can be done and cannot be done, the techniques used in this procedure, as well as risks involved and how to overcome them.  A science, because the surgical skills involved in the removal of this fat require long courses of study and practice before one can qualify as a surgeon and practitioner of this discipline.

An art, because despite possession of all surgical skills, there also has to be an appreciation of beauty and its form, and how it varies in different cultures and ages.  An art, because if one does not know and appreciate the finer and beautiful things in life, one is just unable to achieve perfect results.  This is why liposuction is also called liposculpture, a sculpting of the human body form to enhance beauty.

So where does one practise the science and art of liposuction (lyposuction)?

Answer: Wherever one sees imperfection in the body as defined by societal norms.

Thus certain areas are common target areas for liposuction:

In women:

The abdomen
The breasts
The chin, cheeks and jowls
The inner arms
The hips and waist
The buttocks
The knees
The inner and outer thighs

In men:

The chin, cheeks and jowls
The abdomen
The waist (love handles, muffin tops, etc)
The breasts

Beauty, unfortunately, does not come cheap.  Liposuction prices vary depending on the types of procedure, size of area involved, and location of practice, among other factors.  One has to balance between cheap liposuction and safe liposuction.

Side effects are uncommon and will be referred to in another article.

Do you need lyposuction? Ask around.  Do your own research. Make your own conclusions.
